Sponsored Youth

The Kiwanis Club of Walnut Valley sponsors Key Clubs at Diamond Bar High School, Walnut High School and a Circle K Club at Mt. San Antonio College (“Mt. SAC”).

The Key Clubs of Diamond Bar, and Walnut High Schools are chartered by conforming to the schools’ rules and regulations, as well as adhering to the Bylaws of Key Club International, including the sponsorship of a Kiwanis Club, Walnut Valley.

The Circle K Club of Mt. SAC follows the precepts of the student governing body’s constitution, as well as the Bylaws of Circle K International, including sponsorship by a Kiwanis Club, Walnut Valley.

As part of the annual Chapman Awards, the Joe Dyer Memorial Scholarship is open only to a graduating member of a Key Club sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Walnut Valley. Those schools are currently Diamond Bar High School and Walnut High School. This scholarship is awarded at the 6 High School Awards Ceremony (Chapman Awards) sponsored and held by the Kiwanis Club of Walnut Valley in May of each year. Each of the 6 schools supply names of numerous students (80 to 90) to receive recognition before their peers and families, and one from each of the 6 schools will receive a scholarship.

Beginning in 2009, a seventh Scholarship, the Joe Dyer Award, is presented to the outstanding graduating Key Club member who exemplifies service, leadership and commitment to the ideals of community service, both within and outside of Key Club. Closer to the actual submission deadline which had a submission deadline of April 14, 2021 last year, there will be a link to the application for this Key Club award. The application and the subsequent award of this scholarship is open ONLY to an active Key Club member of the 2 Key Clubs sponsored by Walnut Valley Kiwanis. Again, the applications can be from only a graduating member of a Key Club sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Walnut Valley: Diamond Bar High School or Walnut High School. To qualify for a scholarship, SLP students must plan to continue their education by attending a college or university, or by attending a trade or vocational school. The Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Scholarship Fund awards approximately $75,000 – $110,000 in scholarships each year.

Notice: The Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation only provides scholarships to students who are members of the Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis Family (KIWIN’S, Key Club and Circle K).

Again, final submission dates for the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Scholarship applications are established by the District Administrator and is indicated on the application form.
